CATARACT is a disease affecting the lens in the eye, in which a transparent natural lens becomes opaque or cloudy.
What are the symptoms of cataract?
The most common symptoms include hazy or blurred vision, faded colours , need for stronger light to read, reduced contrast, reduced vision with spectacles which were fine some time back, photosensitivity, halo around light, etc.
How can a cataract be treated?
The best way to treat a cataract is by surgery , during which a cataractous /cloudy natural lens is replaced by an artificial one to restore the vision.
How much time does it take for the surgery?
Cataract surgery is a daycare procedure in which the pateint can go home a few hours after surgery . The surgical time is usually from a few minutes to less than an hour.
